Philosophy

The program aims to produce graduates with strong knowledge and practical competencies in biotechnology, grounded in scientific thinking, practices, and processes, integrated with interdisciplinary approaches. Graduates are expected to enhance industrial capabilities and effectively apply their knowledge to support and advance innovation.

Importance

In the Twelfth National Economic and Social Development Plan of Thailand, the country emphasizes strengthening its economic foundation through the intensive development and application of advanced science, technology, and innovation. At the same time, importance is placed on utilizing the potential of biological resources by promoting and developing the bioeconomy as a new and significant source of income. The plan aims to enhance the global competitiveness of Thai agricultural and food products by improving their quality and safety, as well as to strengthen key industries, including existing industries with high potential for further development (First S-Curve) and future industries (New S-Curve), in alignment with the Thailand 4.0 policy. Industries and technologies related to the Bachelor of Science Program in Industrial Biotechnology include, for example, food processing industries, agriculture and biotechnology industries, and biofuel and biochemical industries. In addition, the Twelfth National Economic and Social Development Plan focuses on strengthening the natural resource base and improving environmental quality, with development strategies that promote waste segregation to support waste-to-energy conversion. Furthermore, the draft framework of the Thirteenth National Economic and Social Development Plan aims to transform Thailand toward a value-based and socially inclusive economy with sustainable progress, emphasizing high-value, environmentally friendly economic development, particularly in high-value agriculture and agro-processing sectors. Accordingly, the Bachelor of Science Program in Industrial Biotechnology (Revised Curriculum B.E. 2565) is designed to produce graduates who meet national workforce demands and enhance Thailand’s competitiveness in the global biotechnology industry. The program is also aligned with the philosophy of King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, which states that “Education and research in science and technology form a strong foundation for national development.”
