Philosophy

This program aims to produce practice-oriented graduates with expertise in environmental technology and sustainable environmental management, grounded in strong moral principles and professional ethics. Graduates of the program will be equipped with analytical thinking skills and the ability to integrate knowledge in environmental management and technology to effectively prevent and mitigate environmental impacts. They will also demonstrate social responsibility by applying environmentally friendly principles to support economic, social, and environmental development at both the national and ASEAN regional levels.

Importance

Thailand has experienced rapid economic growth, emerging as one of the leading economies in the ASEAN region. This progress has been driven by continuous implementation of the National Economic and Social Development Plans, along with strategic policies promoting industrial expansion, commercial growth, and foreign investment. However, such development has also led to the depletion of natural resources and environmental degradation. Improving quality of life and environmental conditions has therefore become a widely recognized priority and an urgent issue requiring serious and sustained action at all organizational levels. At the same time, there remains a shortage of personnel with specialized knowledge and expertise in environmental prevention and remediation. Recognizing its social responsibility and commitment to national development, the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), has established the Bachelor of Science Program in Environmental Technology and Sustainable Management. The program aims to produce graduates equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to apply environmental management principles and technologies to prevent and resolve environmental problems arising from both industrial activities and community sources. Furthermore, graduates will be capable of contributing to environmental restoration and will possess a strong awareness of sustainable natural resource and environmental management.
