Philosophy

This program is committed to education and research aimed at producing human resources with knowledge in science and technology, alongside strong moral and ethical values, while preserving the nation’s rich cultural heritage. It seeks to produce graduates in Industrial Microbiology in alignment with the philosophy of King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang: “Education and research in science and technology form a strong foundation for national development.”

Importance

Microorganisms represent a diverse and vital national resource, serving as essential raw materials in production processes and product development. They constitute key components of goods and services within the bio-based economy, contributing to the stability and sustainability of living systems, including human life. Moreover, their utilization provides a foundation for economic development and enhances the nation’s competitiveness. Advancements in science and biotechnology have enabled the improvement and development of microbial strains with enhanced capabilities for producing high-value substances. These developments align with integrated dimensions of human development, economic growth, and environmental sustainability, in accordance with Thailand’s 20-Year National Strategy and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At the same time, emphasis has been placed on driving the Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG Model), which promotes an innovation-driven economy based on research and development, utilizing biological resources—particularly microorganisms and microbial-derived products—in production processes to improve the quality, standards, and quantity of outputs, while minimizing environmental impacts. Accordingly, the Industrial Microbiology program is designed to produce graduates equipped with knowledge and competencies in the application of microorganisms across various industries. These graduates will possess the potential to remain competitive in the rapidly evolving bio-based economy driven by technological advancement and innovation, thereby contributing to the enhancement of the country’s competitive capacity.
